Current Account

What is Current Account?

A country's trade balance plus net income and transfers from abroad.

Understanding Current Account

The current account adds exports minus imports of goods and services, income earned on foreign investments, and transfers such as remittances.

It equals national saving minus domestic investment: a country that invests more than it saves runs a current account deficit.
