Fiscal Policy

What is Fiscal Policy?

The use of government spending and taxes to influence the economy.

Understanding Fiscal Policy

Fiscal policy is decided by governments and legislatures through budgets and tax laws. It funds public services, redistributes income, and can support or cool the economy.

In recessions, governments often cut taxes or raise spending to boost demand; some support happens automatically as tax revenue falls and benefit payments rise.
